You’ve taken the plunge and can call yourself a blogger now! You’re super stoked to share your knowledge with the world, grow your readership and make money as a blogger. But, wait..how do you get traffic as a blogging beginner? It can feel like it takes an enormous amount of effort to get just 10 visitors to your blog on a daily basis. Think about it. You’re a spec in the HUGE WORLD of Internet. There’s an easier way to do it. Keep reading…
Free Ways to Drive Loads of Traffic to Your Blog
Get on Social Media
The easiest start is social media. It’s free (we’re talking the unpaid route here, no ads), you can grow really quickly, you can find your audience and even go viral.
So where do you get started?
First, it all starts with opening your social media accounts. There are a ton out there. We recommend you get on these: Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus. These are your core 5 usually. You’re going to open accounts with each network for your blog.
Best Practices to Follow:
- Completely fill out your profile
- Add your blog url
- Add your logo or photo in your bio
Once you’re all set up on social media. Use the network. Post consistently, support other pages, like, comment, thumbs up, etc.
Then, see if it’s working. On your blog hopefully you already have Google Analytics installed. If you don’t, get it ASAP. Then check your analytics to see which network is the busiest. That’s where your audience hangs out and that’s where you should pay attention to. Makes sense?
The Tool That Helps Me Get Traffic and Make Money Blogging? Tailwind
Use Tailwind to schedule your social media posts. I use it specifically for my Pinterest posts. In 5 minutes I can schedule my posts out for the week and they run on autopilot. This helps me save so much time and drive buckets of traffic back to my blog.
This is one of the first tools I invested in. There’s a free 14-day trial to test things out and the paid version is about $10/month. I love it so much I have MULTIPLE PAID MEMBERSHIPS! Try it today.
Guest Posting
I got over 10,000 page views on my very first blog in it’s first month, thanks to guest posting. This is what I did:
I reached out to many bloggers (more experienced ones) in my niche and pitched a guest post. Once they agreed, I prepared my post and sent it to them. They’d send me the run date and when it published, I promoted the heck out of it, on social media.
Do as much guest posting as you can! This really makes a difference.
Networking
Don’t roll your eyes. I can see you..just joking. Networking makes a difference. Even introverts can do this. It’s easy to do online. Yes, you can network online.
Get on Facebook groups and interact with people. Answer questions, ask questions of your own, share helpful information, etc. This will get you noticed.
Consider starting a Facebook group of your own and really create a community.
Participate in Pinterest communities. Don’t just post your pins. Comment, share, provide useful info to the community.

I keep hearing that guest posting is the way to go – but I’m finding that even the guest posts I get accepted or are scheduled to publish many weeks, or even months, in the future! I wonder if it’s just more saturated now or my particular niche (mom, lifestyle) is. Glad to hear it does work to drive traffic though!
